Concept
Multimodal Analysis®
Multimodal analysis, or multimodal analytics, is concerned with the meaning arising from the integration of different ‘modes’ or resources (for example, language, images, scientific symbols, facial expression, gestures, movement, music and so forth) in different media. The Multimodal Analysis Company provides software platforms, concepts and frameworks for understanding how linguistic, visual and audio resources function to attract attention and create particular views of the world. We show the functions of different choices, and from there, our clients can learn to create more effective media texts.
Multimodal Literacy
Today, literacy is no longer confined to language, given the rapid advances in digital technology where images, videos and audio resources play a major role in communication. Multimodal literacy, the ability to read, write and represent using multiple modes of meaning, is a necessary skill in the 21st Century. We help people understand how multimodal texts engage and create meanings, with view to developing their own ability to write, visualize and represent in different contexts.
We work with developed and developing countries, providing software packages and teaching and learning materials to improve literacy standards.
Multimodal Education
Multimodal education takes into account the different modes which combine to create knowledge. For example, mathematical and scientific knowledge is constructed using language, images (diagrams and graphs) and symbolism. Similarly, social science subjects like history, geography and social studies involve the use of language, maps, photos and drawings. Moreover, digital media has revolutionized the ways knowledge is created, providing new platforms for knowledge creation.
Multimodal education provides the key for thriving in the digital age, for both producers and consumers of content.
